Storybooks.

I worked on these last weekend. They’re a lot of fun, I draw the person, and add their environment, and once I have that I look at what I have and come up with a funny story related to their facial expression or environment.

Broken Arm

Amputation

The writings small on this one, it says:

“She’s begun to feel beautiful again. The first time since the amputation.”

And by amputation I mean her arm. And if you were wondering, she’s standing in front of a lamp store.

Comic inspiration

This one says:

“After leaving the beauty salon, she instantly regretted bring a cartoon as an inspirational photo.”

I was really stuck on the background, once I had her on stairs I was stuck.

Darts

This is my favorite story:

“Reaching into her bag, Becky looked at the dozing security guard. She grabbed he darts, her ex wasn’t gonna be the center of attention, in an art gallery of all things. Especially when she was the one who broke up with him anyways.”

Orange Face

Sketches

What spurred this whole thing was me learning to draw people, the basic figure anyways. I haven’t mastered it, but I like that I get a different shape each time, it mixes up my drawings.

Red Cross

But more like blue cross.

Clubs are starting their meetings this time of year. I went to a Red Cross Club meeting two weeks ago and got a registration sheet handed to me, but I wasn’t there to be in the club, so I started doodling. I had been in the club for freshmen and sophomore year and every time, I had to quit the club once softball conditioning or practice took up my afterschool hours. And I wasn’t very involved, and it was a new club, so we didn’t do much.

Red

But I was there to vote for my friend, who was running for VP. So I took the registration sheet and started working on it during the transition time.

I quickly started with the red cross shape on the back of the sheet. I filled it first with band aids, and then medicine. Medicine was fun to draw and I kept adding different types of pills, but it got to be a challenge to come up with different shapes. And as the cross started filling up I decided to turn it into a medicine bottle, it has the measurements going down the side, the lid, and the label, which decoratively shows a bunch of crosses. I really like it, it was fun because normally when I doodle, it’s a scratch in the margins of my paper, but with this I actually thought about what I was doing and created something presentable. But having to wait 15 minutes for the bus afterwards helps that thinking process work it’s way through.

Lady Cheekbones

Despite it’s slightly eerie feeling, I really like this drawing.

Lady

Yes I do.

But it’s perfect for the kickoff of October. The eerie month.

Section 1.3 Every Odd Problem.

Why do I love all the doodles I do in my math book? And when I open my sketchbook I can’t do a thing?

Maybe it’s because I am concentrating so hard on my math, that when I take a break to draw, I’m not thinking about making the doodle look like the picture in my head because there isn’t one.

Or maybe it’s murphy’s law.
